Nimrod is an odd choice for the defining name of a group of writers, I’ll admit. You pretty much instantly associate it with dim-witted and clumsy oafs. Be that as it may (or may not), we fucking love to write.
The name is a biblical reference, King Nimrod built the Tower of Babel and wanted to unite the land under one language where everyone could communicate and understand each other.

It’s my feeling that literature is an incredible unifier. While culture and customs, language barriers and politics all accentuate the differences that exist between countries, literature is universal. A book written in Russia, translated the world over, can evoke the same feelings and understanding in anyone who reads it. No matter how foreign the elements of the story may be, readers from all walks of life can feel that same connection with a character or a story. It strips down barriers, leaves just a person like any person is, and shows us how we’re all really the same.

In that spirit, I got a group of literally everyone I could half-force to write, and we started the group with the Nanofiction Challenge. A 7-day event which was much more fun than I could have imagined, and produced some incredible gems. I’m very proud of it.

The Nimrod Review started as my gift to the people who participated in this writing experiment, but with time, I plan to make it a semi-annual literary magazine with content both from the writing group, and through submissions.

I appreciate everyone who helped get me to where this is, and who will work to make it bigger and better as time goes on.

Thank you for reading,
